The global pandemic COVID-19 is unprecedented in its impact on the loss of lives, our modern globalized economy and 21st century lifestyles. Borders are being closed; person-to-person contact restricted; and vast industries and ways of conducting lives and businesses are being disrupted in ways that may change forever.

About the Speaker:
Brian W Tang is founding executive director of LITE Lab@HKU, University of Hong Kong’s new interdisciplinary and experiential programme to foster law, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship (LITE) that was featured on CNBC. Brian is co-chair of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong’s RegTech Committee, co-founded the APAC Regtech Network, is a lead organizer of Legal Hackers Hong Kong and sits on the HKU Fintech Index Advisory Board and the Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association (ALITA)’s Steering Committee. Brian organized Hong Kong’s first lawtech and regtech hackathons for Global Legal Hackathon and Legal Hackers’ Computational Law and Blockchain Festival Hong Kong node, is an author in the FINTECH Book and the REGTECH Book, and is a principal instructor of Asia’s first FinTech MOOC on edX that has more than 58,000 learners in every country worldwide. Brian previously spent nearly 20 years at global investment bank Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, and at law firms Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and Silicon Valley and Mallesons in Perth, Australia. Brian is a frequently invited international speaker in the areas of law and innovation, capital marketplaces, regtech, lawtech, AI governance, virtual assets and future skills. Brian graduated with a an LLM from New York University School of Law and a BA/LLB (hons) from The University of Western Australia.
